Captions and speech are free, permanently

Live captioning and text-to-speech are not gated at any tier, for any reason. They are what a deaf, hard-of-hearing or non-verbal person uses to take part in a conversation, and putting a meter on that would be charging for someone's ability to be present. If our costs ever become a problem the answer is a local model, not a paywall.

What it will not pretend to do

This is a machine translator. It is not a certified translation, and it is not safe for a legal filing, a medical instruction or an emergency. Where a mistake is dangerous the result says so rather than reading as confidently as anything else.

Questions

Do I need an account?

Not for text, captions, speech or the camera. An account lifts the daily cap and adds saved transcripts, document translation and live paired conversation.

Which model is used?

Whichever is configured on this deployment — and the result tells you, every time, along with the language it detected.

Can I correct the detected language?

Yes. Detection is a guess and it says so; setting the source language explicitly is one control away and usually improves the result.
